discern is a CLI+MCP software engineering tool, which installs a rigorous engineering discipline into any software project.

How to update

Read the release notes.

Rerun curl -fsSL https://discern.sh/install | sh to install the latest stable version. The installer verifies the download checksum before replacing the binary.

Run command -v discern to check which copy will run, then discern --version to check its version.

Restart open coding-agent and MCP sessions so they use the new version.

In the project you want to update, run discern upgrade --dry-run to preview the changes, then discern upgrade to apply them.

Review and commit the changes to your project.
